Hardware Revisions

The Dreamcast was manufactured across several internal hardware revisions, commonly identified by a number printed inside a circle on the bottom label of the console. While the external enclosure remained largely unchanged, these revisions introduced differences in motherboard layout, power supply connectors, cooling components, and optical drive compatibility.

Hardware revision can be identified by the marking on the underside label:

  • 0 → VA0

  • 1 → VA1

  • 2 → VA2

Revision 0 (VA0)

Overview

Revision 0 represents early production units and is the least common hardware revision.
